Fitwit — Just Start Moving!

Fitwit: A portmanteau of fitness and witty; smartly incorporating healthy practices into your life.

To speak for me, fitness has always been a concern since the notion of “gymming” became popular. Six years ago, I believed that if I hadn’t joined a gym, I wouldn’t be fit. It was only later that I realized that gymming is much like any other dedicated regime. But, in my naive state of mind, I banked on a gym membership. For a few months after, I was dedicated to it and I started seeing results. Had I given time to any kind of fitness activity with such dedication, I would have seen results despite not “gymming”.

When I started, I perceived fitness and exercise to be the same. Over time, I can say that fitness is a byproduct of exercising. Fitness is a destination but exercise is the journey. Much like this series.

Exercise is nothing but moving. Moving your body or keeping your body in physical motion is exercise. For example; walking and brisk walking. Exercise is not bounded by time and location. You can exercise anywhere, anytime. Moving is the only thing you need to devote yourself to for your fitness goals.

Depending on your lifestyle, exercising should be scheduled to get into the habit of taking care of your body. Sly and witful addition of exercise into your daily routine can not only increase productivity but also release happiness hormones (Endorphins).

Exercise is a broad concept and can range from a basic walk advancing into running, yoga, HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), Crossfit, Weight training, Sports, and more. As you begin, it is advised to progress gradually to avoid breaking the consistency.

Fitness can be achieved by either or many ways of the exercises mentioned above. Smartness is not justified without the inclusion of proper nutrition. The food that nourishes your body based on your lifestyle is nutrition. In the later articles in the series, nutrition will be discussed from a bird’s eye view added with my experiences.

Most people entered 2022 with a resolution to achieve their fitness goals this year and Fit-Wit will be an introduction for beginners to avoid rookie mistakes. Fit-Wit is a friendly nudge to anyone who aims to learn and expand their perspective when it comes to fitness and nutrition.

It only starts when you START MOVING.
